How Can We Help?
Steps to Remove Diverter Valve
Step 1: Gather Necessary Tools
- Prepare the tools you will need: a Phillips screwdriver, a set of precision screwdrivers, an adjustable wrench, and pliers.
Step 2: Identify the Diverter Knob
- Locate the diverter knob on the front of the shower panel. It will have markings indicating different shower functions.
Step 3: Turn the Diverter to the “Off” Position
- Use your hand or a tool to turn the diverter knob to the “Off” position. This is essential to ensure no water is flowing through the panel during disassembly.
Step 4: Remove the Diverter Knob
- Using a small flat-head or precision screwdriver, carefully pry off the diverter knob from the shower panel to expose the inner components.
Step 5: Loosen the Internal Components
- Use an appropriate screwdriver to loosen the internal screws that are securing the diverter mechanism to the shower panel.
Step 6: Remove the Diverter Cover Plate
- Once the screws are loosened, gently remove the diverter cover plate from the panel. This will expose the main diverter assembly inside.
Step 7: Access the Diverter Valve Assembly
- With the cover plate removed, locate the diverter valve assembly. Disconnect any visible screws and components holding it in place.
Step 8: Disconnect All Hose Connections
- Carefully detach all hose connections from the diverter valve using pliers or a wrench. Ensure to note their positions for reassembly.
Step 9: Remove the Diverter Valve
- Gently pull out the diverter valve assembly from its position. Some force may be needed, but avoid damaging the surrounding parts.
Step 10: Inspect the Diverter Mounting Area (Image 10)
- After the diverter valve is removed, inspect the mounting area for any damage or debris. Clean the surface before installing a new valve.
Step 11: Remove the Central Nut from Diverter Valve
- Use a wrench to carefully unscrew and remove the central nut securing the diverter valve. This nut holds the diverter firmly in place. Rotate counterclockwise to loosen it.
Step 12: Separate the Diverter Valve from the Panel
- Once the nut is removed, gently pull the diverter valve assembly out from the back of the shower panel. Make sure all connections are fully detached before removal to avoid damaging any hoses or components.
